Getting To and From Knock:

Transport networks to Knock, Co. Mayo are good, with Knock Airport offering daily flights to the west of Ireland. The airport is situated 16km for the city centre. Knock is most famous for being the site of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. On August 21 1879, it is claimed that Our Lady the Virgin Mary appeared to a group of fifteen parishioners in an apparition. The group are reported to have witnessed Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John at the church's south gable. To this day, the shrine draws thousands of visitors, but the most popular times for visiting are from the last Sunday in April to the Second Sunday in October.
